FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT CYCLOBIA BROWNSVILLE

1. What is a CycloBia event?

CycloBia is based off a Ciclovía which was originated in Bógota, Colombia about 30 years ago. The open-streets events have gone global with many cities hosting their own.
CycloBia is a free event that temporarily makes selected Brownsville streets available for participants to walk, skate, bike, run, and skateboard without worrying about vehicle traffic.

2. Is CycloBia a race?

No. CycloBia is a non-competitive event. There is no beginning or end. Participants can enter and exit the route at any point. You don’t have to register, just show up.

3. Is the route handicap accessible?

Yes. The CycloBia Route and Reclovias are all handicap accessible. Handicap parking spaces are available at Linear Park (along E. 6th Street) and near the Cameron County Courthouse. Enter anywhere along the route. Accessible restrooms are also available.

4. Is CycloBia pet friendly?

Yes. CycloBia is open to pets, but please keep them on their leash to help prevent interference with participants in motion.  Please pick up after them if there are any accidents.

5. Are there bathrooms along the route?

Yes. Restrooms are available at Linear Park, the Downtown Recreation Center, the Police Station, and Market Square. Keep an eye out for directional signage along the route.

6. How long will the streets be closed?

The streets will be closed during the time frame that the event will be taking place. We expect the roads to be completely closed right when our event begins and cars will be allowed back on the route as soon as the event is over.

7. Where can I find water along the route?

Water stations will be placed along the route, so make sure that you find these stations on the map prior to the event. You will also be able to buy beverages along the route and you are always free to bring your own.
